We are the heart, let's create the beat!
We need to re-invent who we are and what we look like!
We are looking for ideas on how to make downtown more charming,
more park–like, more of an attraction and gathering place for the Salem Community.
We want everyone to bring their guests to see our downtown – every time they visit, and we want them to see progress every time they come. 
We are working on one idea that may have promise:
The downtown sidewalk park – where the pedestrian is king!
Highlights:
Two way streets, more trees, more hanging baskets, more on-street parking spaces, more art, more benches, more acoustic music - jugglers - mimes, more garbage cans, more planters, more people and more fun!
We want a downtown where all ages feel safe. A place where shoppers
want to linger, children are engaged and teens / tweens feel welcome.
